During our class in week 4, we learnt more about learning managing system (LMS) and course managing system (CMS). Before this, I was not that clear on the use of LMS and CMS as I know so little of it. Before Dr Fariza briefed us about LMS and CMS, she asked a few groups to present about their understanding and apparently all of us has different understanding about both systems. After the groups' presentation, Dr explained to us the real concept of it and what I understood from her explanation is that LMS is more into management which students use to manage their courses and CMS is more into communicating with peers and lecturers. Other than that, we learnt about Casper. Not the friendly ghost but a presentation on slideshare.net regarding how to prepare good presentation. CASPER stands for (C)ontrast, (A)lignment, (S)implicity, (P)roximity, (E)mphasis and (R)epetition. It is very useful and it taught me how to make my slide presentation more suitable for learning and teaching session. After we learnt with Casper, Dr showed us Google presentation which is in Google Drive. Using Google presentation, we can make a powerpoint online with our group members and we can edit, add, share files with our group members on the spot using it.
On week 3, we learnt more about Google Drive and Google Docs. With Google drive, I could do all my assignments quickly and easily. It offers thing similar like Microsoft words and Microsoft excel but it is more convenient because it is done online and I could easily send my assignments to my lecturers once I am done. And with Google Docs, it can help me with my group work. I can share files and work with all of my group mates easily and also, I can comment on my group mates' work on the spot and it will be saved on my every group mates' laptops and devices. Google Drive and Google Docs will be very helpful in the future and I will definitely use them both more often from now.
The first GGGE1155 Computer in Education class was informative and fun. When I entered the computer room last Monday, a lot of things roamed through my mind. For example, how will the class be like? Is it going to be boring? What on earth would we possibly do for three hours straight? I am not very good in computers and I am pretty sure I have the least knowledge in computers than my other course mates. So, I was really worried that I would be left behind. But, as soon as Dr Fariza came in and introduced herself to the class, I was less worried because she told us that she would teach us bit by bit and right then, I knew I would enjoy this course. Last Monday, we were taught more about Gmail. Before this, I thought Gmail is useless because I already have Yahoo! Mail to receive all of my emails but Dr Fariza showed us more deeply into Gmail and frankly, I was fascinated by the things Gmail has to offer. For examples, GoogleDrive and GoogleDocs. Dr Fariza also taught us how to put our signatures which before this I ever knew I could do that. Before the class, I would always have to type down my information such as my name and phone number at the end of every mail I sent. But now, with the signature, I don’t have to anymore.
About Weebly, I have never created my own blog or website beforehand so I had no idea how to do it. Dr Fariza showed us step by step on how to create our own weebly website and I never thought I could be that simple but it is. Dr Fariza even showed us about everything in Weebly and how to write in our website and how to manage it. We are free to choose our own themes with our own idea and creativity.
I really enjoyed the GGGE1155 class with Dr Fariza because she made sure everyone understood what she taught before she continued the lesson.
